Her Education Matters
About Us
Her Education Matters (HEM) is a student-led nonprofit founded in 2023 based in Maryland. Around the world, women are underrepresented in many fields, especially STEM fields, often due to a lack of proper educational opportunities provided for girls. We are a group of feminists who seek to bring change by bringing awareness to the issue that is unequal educational opportunities for women and girls.
Why we care
There are 129 million girls are out of school worldwide. Various factors, including poverty, gender discrimination, child marriage, and unsanitary and unsafe learning environments, are behind this gap. It is important to ensure equal education because it is empowering and transforming to societies all around the world.
